| 08 September 2008 - Thule are official cycle carrier supplier to Tour of Britain | |||
Thule, the world’s leading manufacturer of car roof rack systems and accessories are official supporters of this year’s Olympic medal studded Tour of Britain, which set off on Sunday 7th September in central London.
Unlike the Tour de France where cyclists ride a linear route across the country, the Tour of Britain has separate daily routes placed in varied destinations. Thule have supplied ProRide 591s; their hugely popular lightweight roof mounted cycle carrier, bars and fitting equipment to a selection of the team cars for their journeys between races. Thule support various sports and their competitors through their Partner in Sport scheme, including champion veteran cycling team EAS-Thule MI Racing and budding 2012 cyclist, Melissa Bury. The Great British Cycling Team will be attending the national race in force, including British Gold medallist Bradley Wiggins and fellow Olympians Chris Newton and Geraint Thomas - both winners of bronze medals in Beijing. The opening stage saw riders complete 10 laps of a circuit through central London, incorporating some of London's most famous landmarks, including Big Ben and the Tower of London. The 16 teams of six riders will cover eight stages from London, through Milton Keynes, Chard to Burnham-on-Sea, Worcester, Kingston-upon-Hull, Darlington to Gateshead, Glasgow, and finishing with a coastline race from Blackpool to Capital of Culture Liverpool. Watch the riders' progress throughout the stages on ITV4 and ITV.com. |
