Clydesdale Bank
18 May 2007 - CLYDESDALE ENABLES A TAUNTON PRESENCE FOR MAJOR SOMERSET LAW FIRM
Largest law firm in South Wessex appoints “personal service bankers”

Battens Solicitors Ltd, the largest law firm in South Somerset and Dorset, has appointed Clydesdale Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre in Taunton to provide all of the firm’s banking requirements, including electronic banking.

While Battens has offices in Yeovil, Sherborne, Dorchester, and Weymouth, the Clydesdale appointment will also provide Battens and its clients with access to the bank’s unique private-meeting facilities in Taunton.

Managing Director of Battens, David Stephens, said: “Our decision to appoint Clydesdale was based on their commitment to having local people providing local relationships and local decisions, backed by a full range of services and local capacity for handling high levels of transactions.

“With a growing number of both commercial and private clients in the Taunton area, we believe that Clydesdale’s private meeting facilities will also help reduce the need for those clients to travel to our offices”, he added.

To build the partnership with Battens’ accounts team, Clydesdale will be running four days of training for Battens’ finance department.

According to Keith Fullman, Battens’ Finance Director: “This initiative is a practical example of the personal, professional, and local service that persuaded us to appoint Clydesdale.

Philip Smith, Senior Partner at Clydesdale’s Financial Solutions Centre in Taunton, comments, “We are delighted that Battens has chosen to appoint Clydesdale as their bank. We pride ourselves on building strong relationships with all of our clients, and look forward to developing the relationship with Battens over the coming months.”

“I have spent most of my banking career in the South West, and recognise the importance to the region’s businesses of providing local services, relationships, and decisions. This is central to the policy of Clydesdale’s Taunton Financial Solutions Centre.
