Clydesdale Bank
21 December 2006 - CLYDESDALE SPONSORSHIP HELPS BRISTOL SARACENS ‘TRY’ EVEN HARDER!
The Bristol Saracens Rugby Club celebrated a new shirt sponsorship deal with Clydesdale Bank with a 28-6 win over local rivals Chipping Sodbury this Saturday.

“It was great to see the players putting the commitment in on the day,” says Nick Lowman, Business Partner Clydesdale Bank. “They’re a team with a great history and they’re a fantastic side to follow – at Clydesdale Bank we are keen to support the local community and we’re proud to be supporting them in this way.”

The 110-year-old club celebrated its brand new partnership with the bank in emphatic fashion. “Clydesdale Bank have made a major contribution to our club’s funding and we’re very grateful,” says club President Barry Miles.

The deal was brokered by Rod MacPhail, ex-player and prominent Bristol businessman. “We were looking for a sponsor within the local community who was prepared to make a commitment to local sport,” says Rod. “The Clydesdale not only did that but they turned out in force to support us on the day as well.”

Saracens were established in 1896 and are one of only two teams to compete in the Bristol Combination ever since. The Club has a rich history and squad members have played for England and the Barbarians.
